Давным-давно, когда многие книги про sound studies были ещё деревьями, я служил звонарём в одном из вятских храмов, освященном в честь Пантелеймона целителя. Меня никто не учил этому мастерству. Как известно, многие важные дела, особенно в храме, начинаются с благословения. И перед тем, как подняться на колокольню, я каждый раз шёл к настоятелю со словами «Отче, благослови позвонить», а потом взбегал на самый верх и трезвонил и благовестил как Бог на душу положит, до устали. И смотрел краем глаза, как бегущие на службу бабушки останавливались, замирали и слушали, а потом вдруг словно отмирали и снова бежали под купол. А потом я на бесчувственных ногах спускался вниз с колокольни, чтобы встать на клирос и там читать и петь, но прежде снова находил настоятеля, чтобы благословиться. Благословлял он жестом, а сам с прищуром спрашивал: «Ну что? Дозвонился?». И я отвечал: «Занято». По секрету скажу, я лукавил.

A long time ago, when many books about sound studies were still trees, I served as a bell ringer in one of the Vyatka temples, consecrated in honor of Panteleimon the healer. Nobody taught me this skill. As you know, many important things, especially in the temple, begin with a blessing. And before going up to the bell tower, every time I went to the abbot with the words "Father, bless me to call," and then ran up to the very top and rang and announced as God put it on my soul, until I was tired. And out of the corner of my eye I watched as the grandmothers running to the service stopped, froze and listened, and then suddenly seemed to die off and again ran under the dome. And then, on insensible feet, I would go down from the bell tower to stand on the choir and read and sing there, but before that I would find the abbot again to be blessed. He blessed with a gesture, and he asked with a squint: “Well? Did you get through? " And I answered: "Busy." I'll tell you a secret, I was cunning.
